One of the things we were most looking forward to on this last trip to Vegas was seeing all the new hotels that were built since our last trip. We were especially wanting to see the Wynn & Palazzo. They did not disappoint. **photos after the jump. click to enlarge**
When we went to Las Vegas for our honeymoon in March 2001, we stayed at the Paris. We loved it. It was our first time in Vegas and the Paris was all new and swanky. For this trip I researched prices on lots of hotels on the strip but coincidentally got the best rate (in a decent hotel with good reviews) at the Paris. We were there Sunday- Thursday night for $49.50 a night. Woot! We already knew we loved the location of the Paris- right on the strip across from the Bellagio, at the heart of the strip near all the good hotels. We were interested to see how the Paris had held up over the last 8 years and with a change in management. In 2001 the Paris was a Hilton hotel but now it’s part of the Harrah’s company.

There are so many restaurant choices in Las Vegas, it’s enough to make your head spin. We only made one reservation for dinner before we arrived in Vegas. We had three other places in mind where we knew we wanted to eat. Other than that we winged it. To keep budget friendly we ate a super light breakfast each day. Just a muffin from JJ’s downstairs. Then we’d be able to splurge on our other meals. **lots of photos after the jump**
Contrary to popular belief, there is WAY more to do in Vegas beyond gambling, boozing, hookers, & getting whacked by the mob.

I’m finally ready and able to tell you all about our Vegas trip! For those who haven’t been, GO!!! So many people say “well I don’t gamble, so what would I do?”. There’s SO MUCH more to do in Vegas besides gambling! Instead of a play by play, day by day, trip report, I decided to tell you about it in a different way this time. I’ll tell you all about dining in one post, entertainment in another, etc. And I’ll tell you how we did it all on a budget. I’m all about saving money. Continue reading
To celebrate I’m giving away 8 free pairs of earrings to lucky readers! If you’d like to win a pair, leave a comment with your name, email, blog address (if applicable), favorite color, and an example of when you thought, or said “Bless Your Heart” to or about someone. For those who aren’t that familiar with the phrase or its usage, we in the South like to bless people’s hearts. Sometimes it’s out of sympathy, compassion, or tenderness: “Bless your heart, you just can’t catch a break!” or “Bless your heart, you baked me a pie!” Sometimes it’s something you say (silently) to yourself: “Bless her heart, she thinks that dress looks good on her.”
Comments will be open through Sunday evening, August 23.
Tomorrow Bless Your Heart turns 8 years old! Watch this space for a fun giveaway!!!

We’ve been home a week and I know, I know, I still don’t have all my pictures edited and I’ve yet to blog word one about Vegas. But I’ve been busy being sick. In Vegas a couple of funky symptoms popped up having to do with some of my lady lumps. Once home I have just been exhausted. I mean, can barely hold my eyes open. I made doctor appointments but Tuesday night things got a little scary. I was shaking, dropping things, could barely stay awake. So CSP took me to the ER where they diagnosed me with mastitis, gave me some antibiotics and sent us home. Wednesday we saw an OBGYN who said it’s NOT mastitis but fibrocystic breast disease. She scheduled me for a mammogram & an ultrasound for the girls, told me to start taking vitamin E and Evening Primrose Oil and sent us home. I became a little overwhelmed that night. I mean, really? Another disease? My bubbies are purely decorative. HOW could they be diseased? I’m so frustrated & tired of being in pain! I had myself a good cry and begged Lola & Trudy not to go into the light (had to name them finally, since they’ve been the center of attention lately). I’m not convinced that I have the fibrocystic breast disease. Seems my most disturbing symptom (which I am NOT going to post on the internets) doesn’t affect most people with the disease. Plus, it just all came out of nowhere. After my test results come back next week if I’m still not satisfied with the diagnosis I’ll get a 2nd opinion.
In the meantime, when I can stay awake long enough I’ve been editing our pictures. Over 300. I’m about a third of the way through. But I promise to tell you all about Vegas, baby. Soon. Hang in there. Like Lola & Trudy.
We’re home! We had a fabulous time and all the updates are coming soon. Right now though I’m dealing with a couple of health issues that popped up in Vegas. One is pretty scary (and strange). A full day of doctor appointments on Wednesday will hopefully take care of this.
Thank you all for my wonderful birthday wishes! Y’all are the best! My Blackberry died a horrible death in Vegas on our 3rd day there so if you were following our adventures via Twitter or FB and wondering why the updates stopped, there you go. I’ll be replacing the Crackberry as soon as I can get to the store…with an iPhone! Yay for birthday money!
